Harrisburg mayor Eric Papenfuse announced the plan to use $13 million of American Rescue Plan funds to renovate and restore the city's pools but he wants public input before moving forward.

Harrisburg's pools were built in the 1960s "in the aftermath of racial unrest and have survived past their expected life expectancies," Papenfuse said.

"The pools play an important role in serving the community...whether it is providing recreational opportunities for our youth, summer jobs for our residents, or safe spaces for families, we need them now more than ever," Papenfuse stated.

The city is actively looking for community feedback, releasing a survey.

Physical copies of the survey are available at the MLK City Governor Center on Second Street and Reservoir Park's office on Concert Drive or you can take the survey online by clicking here.

The city received a total of $23,536,812 in American Rescue Plan funds so this plan would use more than half of the funds.
